How do I reconstitute a lyophilized peptide?
Using a sterile syringe, draw the appropriate volume of bacteriostatic water and inject it slowly down the side of the vial rather than directly onto the powder, to avoid excess agitation. Gently swirl (do not shake) until the powder is fully dissolved. This should always be done in a controlled laboratory setting with proper sterile technique.
How long does a peptide last once reconstituted?
This varies by compound, but as a general laboratory practice, reconstituted peptides should be kept refrigerated (not frozen) and used within your lab's validated stability window -- commonly two to four weeks for most compounds. Discard any solution that appears cloudy, discolored, or has been left at room temperature for an extended period.
